About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Care Assistant II to join our team. As a Respiratory Care Assistant II, you will be responsible for providing respiratory care therapies to patients under the direction and supervision of a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP). You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities- Review patient charts and other data to ensure appropriate planning and administration of ordered therapy.
- Assess and document the effectiveness of ordered respiratory care treatments.
- Administer IPPB, PD&P, aerosol therapy, pulse oximetry, peak flows, oxygen, humidification therapy, and other airway clearance devices.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot ventilators and O2 delivery devices.
- Respond to codes and traumas, and perform tasks within scope of practice.
- Responsible for order entry and billing of services on the hospital computer system.
- Assist in arrangements for home care patients, including patient/parent teaching, review of equipment, and cleaning techniques.
- Accept verbal orders from physicians and provide age-appropriate basic and intermediate care to patients of all ages.
- Fulfill annual continuing education requirements for state licensure.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills required in interactions with patients and parents, and hospital staff.
- Ability to work under general supervision.
- Enrolled and in good standing in a respiratory care educational program.
- Must possess and maintain current CPR card, and obtain and maintain PALS and/or NRP certification as required by unit.
