At MercyFirst, we are committed to providing exceptional support to birth parents whose children are in foster care. As a Parent Advocate, you will play a vital role in helping parents navigate the foster care system, make informed decisions for their families, and work towards reunification.
Responsibilities:- Provide advocacy, support, and referral services to birth parents in areas such as family court, housing, and public assistance.
- Engage with birth parents to educate them on the birth parent/client experience and provide ongoing support.
- Participate in Birth Parent Orientation and facilitate a Parent Support Circle to address common needs.
- Monitor family/sibling visits and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and participate in meetings and family team conferences.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Good communication, both verbal and written.
- Prior personal lived experience in the Foster Care System is required.
- Understanding and willingness to commit to the agency's Mission, core values, Sanctuary Commitments, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
