Service Management and Infrastructure is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers working on a critical platform that handles the orchestration of our robotaxi service at Zoox.
Zoox is building a future for Riders, not drivers. At the heart of this vision is our robotaxi service. This service includes a series of mission critical microservices that require a high level of resilience as they serve both internal and external users and our fleet of autonomous vehicles.
This role will need to care about the performance, reliability, scalability, privacy, security and observability of the involved services.

In this role, you will: Lead and grow a team of engineers, driving them to do their best work by identifying impactful opportunities, nudging along execution and elevating recognition of their efforts.Guide the team to resolve production issues reactively, sometimes under pressure, while maintaining calm composure.Work closely with technical product management to shape team roadmaps that set the direction for the team.Take responsibility for team health, maximizing team happiness, output, giving and seeking feedback, and identifying and resolving conflicts early.Collaborate with engineers and other managers across the organization to achieve shared milestones. Qualifications 3+ years experience managing an engineering team5+ years engineering experience (Kotlin and/or Java is desirable)Excellent communication skillsExperience with cloud infrastructureExperience working with resilient distributed microservices Bonus Qualifications Passionate about optimizing systems for maximum efficiency and resilienceExperience with or managing a team that works with production serving, cloud web servicesExperience with Spring Boot based microservice architectures, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes or Docker Compensation:
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $203,000 to $293,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
