Description
Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source. Our nuclear power generation clients are digitizing their existing power plants and building new nuclear power plants, small modular reactors (SMR). This is expanding work in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group. Due to this influx of work, Sargent & Lundy has a need for several I&C Engineers.
This is an entry-level design engineering position that offers a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in nuclear Instrument and Controls Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity to advance your career. You will have the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in engineering:
You will work on a multi-discipline engineering team involved in nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls betterment projects. These projects are a synergistic integration of both electrical and mechanical engineering along with control theory. You will work with electronic process sensors, digital controllers, touchscreen displays, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines and reactors to improve the functionality of nuclear power plants. You will prepare specifications for the procurement of instrumentation and controls equipment as well as engineering calculations associated with plant upgrades and modifications. Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production including cable block diagrams and schematics. Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner to meet client requirements. Through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training, you will increase your knowledge and skills in your engineering discipline. You will also have the opportunity to travel to client and vendor officesThis position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Essential Skills:
A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems is required. Preferred graduation date of Spring 2025. Coursework in mechatronics is desired, but not required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (Read, Speak, and Write)Sargent & Lundy is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
