Underwriting

AIG's underwriters develop insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies and individuals, and embody AIG's tradition of innovation, bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions for our changing world. AIG's underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines (Aerospace, Credit, Energy & Marine), Cyber, Multinational Clients and High Net Worth individuals.

About the role

What we’re looking for:

AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry. 

We also look for a diverse background of experience, culture and thought. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a team-oriented track record.

What you need to know:

• Evaluate risks, quote with underwriter supervision and refer analysis for underwriter approval.

• Increase policy retention & Issuance Service Level Agreements in order to increase production and profitability.

• Negotiate externally and internally the underwriting of the accounts and analyze financial statements, application and other underwriting documents. Request additional information to the insurance brokers to analyze the risk, if it was deemed relevant.

• Determine the acceptability of the risk and appropriate premium for coverage offered in accordance with the established underwriting guidelines.

• Develop relationships with our key brokers and provide the best service possible and provide support in the training of Brokers and Insureds about our products.

• Contribute to operational efficiencies.

• Respond to all receivable queries as required in a timely manner.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree completed, preferable in Accounting, Finance or a related field of study.

• This position suits recent graduates and/or candidates with some exposure to underwriting concepts and experience in the Insurance Industry.

• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.

• Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish including verbal, written and negotiation.

• A proven track record of excellent customer service skills and Interpersonal skills.

• Fast learner.

• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

• Experience in writing reports and business correspondence

The Early Careers Analyst program will start in July 2024.
