In this critical role you will be in charge of blueprints that define enterprise-level design standards for diverse software applications that serve a dynamic community of internal and external clients and members. You will also work with business managers, software engineers, quality assurance teams, and technology leadership to provide design guidelines for technical solutions that support complex systems.

What you’ll do

In a few words…

Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in the development and deployment of complex mobile and hosted web applications (You did build the labyrinth, after all.) Assist in the definition of product requirements and the creation of high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems and services Lead the definition and documentation of development best practices, processes, and methodologies Create scalable, maintainable designs that support loosely coupled enterprise components and foster reuse of software Make high-level design choices ensuring technical standards in software, tools, and platforms Create, define, and choose frameworks for new applications Identify paths from existing to future software architectures Balance the creation of value with the management of risk through design (No tipping the scales) Lead efforts in identifying and prototyping emerging technologies (We don’t think you’ll have a problem with this one.) Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application development best practices Take an active role in cross‐departmental projects when needed Guide and mentor more junior engineers Research, investigate, and stay at the forefront of technology (Software Development, Hardware, Programming Languages, etc.) Direct research on emerging applications’ software development products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts Work closely with business analysts, software engineers, and users to understand business and client needs and create optimal software and technology solutions to address those needs.

What you’re made of

The bold requirements…

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field. (In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant experience may be considered). 10+ years of experience in a Software Engineering capacity. 5+ years of experience in Software Architecture role. High level of expertise in solid principles of Software Engineering, including expertise in different software design philosophies and patters such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Architecture, Onion Architecture and Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS). Deep expertise on Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft Azure Cloud Solutions and Microsoft Visual Studio Expert in object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java and/or Javascript. Solid foundation and knowledge of design patters for Microservices, including (but not limited to) Aggregator, Proxy, Chain, Branch and Data Sharing patters. Knowledge of frontend code architectures and development with frameworks such as Angular, React and Vue. Deep understanding and expertise of containerization strategies such as Kubernetes and Docker Containers. Knowledge of message queue/broker applications, such as Apache Kafka, Azure Scheduler and RabbitMQ. Knowledge of SQL Server, Database Design, T-SQL, and Stored Procedures Able to communicate effectively orally and written.
